• Enjoy a guided game drive through the Lion & Safari Park in one of their game drive trucks while the guides share interesting facts about the animals.

Step into the world of a sanctuary keeper and experience what it is like to spend a day caring for some of Africa’s most remarkable animals.

At the Elephant & Monkey Sanctuary, our Day in the Life of a Sanctuary Keeper experience gives you the opportunity to go behind the scenes and become immersed in the daily care and routines of our sanctuary. You will spend the day learning about our African elephants and exotic primates, getting up close to these incredible animals and gaining a deeper understanding of their behaviour, individual needs and care.

More than just an animal experience, this is an opportunity to see the sanctuary through the eyes of the people who dedicate their days to caring for its residents. Join our team, learn about the work involved in running a sanctuary and discover the commitment, knowledge and compassion that goes into providing a safe and caring environment for our animals.

FULL DAY PACKAGE ITINERARY

• 07:30 – Arrival & Morning Duties
  Arrival, indemnities and elephant stable cleaning.
• 08:00 – Elephant Care
  Brushing, Elephant Interaction Program, husbandry and free feeding.
• 09:30 – Morning Refreshments
  Tea or coffee with rusks or muffins.
• 10:00 – Elephant Care & Husbandry
  Elephant Interaction Program, husbandry tasks and free feeding.
• 11:30 – Preparing for Our Animals
  Cutting branches, preparing fruit and vegetables, and preparing stable bedding.
• 12:30 – Lunch
• 13:30 – Afternoon Preparation
  Food preparation.
• 14:00 – Monkey Tour
  A guided tour and introduction to our primates.
• 15:00 – Afternoon Sanctuary Duties
  Feeding, cleaning, enrichment and other husbandry tasks, depending on the day’s requirements.
• 16:00 – Refreshments & Q&A
  Tea or coffee, DVD presentation and an informal Q&A with our team.
• 16:30 – Departure
